May 30th brings exciting news! The Jiayu Yangtze River Bridge has successfully achieved closure, setting a world record for its bridge type! Our company, Wuhan Newtery Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., is honored to contribute to our nation's development by participating in this innovative project. The bridge's main span of 920 meters now ranks as the world's longest among both completed and under-construction asymmetric, single-side hybrid girder semi-floating system cable-stayed bridges!

Jiayu Yangtze River Highway Bridge employs a new type of tower-girder damper device, a novel damper system researched and developed by Wuhan Newtery. This marks the first domestic application of a new-type tower-girder damper with jacking functionality, enabling truly all-weather bridge closure, with the closure joint weld width controlled to millimeter-level precision. This new damper primarily serves three key functions: first, longitudinal positioning during construction; second, automatic adjustment of the closure joint width using its built-in oil pump during mid-span closure; third, damping and vibration reduction for the entire bridge after opening to traffic.

The bridge closure utilized a single-side lifting and jacking process. By applying force to the main girder at the south tower via the jacking dampers, the closure joint gap was digitally controlled, allowing for precise control of the weld width. The south tower of the Jiayu Yangtze River Bridge is equipped with a total of 4 sets of these special-function dampers, each with a damping force F=3000 kN, a maximum jacking force of 4000 kN, and a displacement capacity of ±900 mm. This successfully forges a new hallmark for Yangtze River bridges.
